HISTORY

Plantasjen was founded in 1986 when the first store opened in Norway. In 2001, funds advised by EQT acquired Plantasjen and initiated a large store expansion in Norway and Sweden. In 2007, funds advised by Apax Partners LLP acquired Plantasjen and continued the expansion of the store network. In 2016, Plantasjen was acquired by Ratos.

Today, Plantasjen is the leading brand for plants in the Nordics in terms of brand recognition and the leading retailer of plants and solutions for plants in the Nordics in terms of revenue. As of 30 June 2016 Plantasjen had more than 120 stores in different formats and a growing number of smaller shops across the key population centres in Norway, Sweden and Finland. Plantasjen registered approximately 12.9 million customer transactions for the twelve months ended 30 June 2016.

2016

Plantasjen was acquired by Ratos, an investment company that owns and develops Nordic companies.


2014

Plantasjen launched new plant destination stores and small high-flow format stores.

In-house development of innovative unique products commenced.


2013

Distribution centres in Larvik, Norway, and Trollhättan, Sweden were set up.

New "Life with Plants" strategic product initiative launched.

New members were added to the Management team.


2007

Plantasjen was acquired by funds advised by Apax Partners LLP.


2003

Plantasjen opened first store Finland


2002

Plantasjen acquired the Swedish chain Växus.


2001

Large store expansion in Norway and Sweden initiated.
